Acting
First Term: students begin with simple self-introductions and then are given a short piece of dialogue (a monologue) to memorise and work on in the coming weeks. There are special confidence building, breathing and volume exercises. This term ends with an "Audition Assessment" to learn how to audition for role. An assessor from the performance industry provides a written report.
Second Term: students learn a scenes with other students, develop improvisation skills and further exercises to build better confidence and ‘stage' discipline. This term ends with our Mid Year Showcase Performance. Third Term: students work in front of a camera, learning TV and film terminology. There is also time spent developing clear speech. All students will prepare to be part of a short film made by industry professionals in the fourth term. |
Fourth Term: the short films are shot in week 3. Students then learn and develop scripts, including specific techniques unique to each class, which are performed at the End of the Year Parent Viewing Day. More work is done on memory, speech clarity, and character development. Advanced students perform in our Annual Concert.

Singing
First Term: from the first class students learn current “pop” songs appropriate to their age. Basic breathing technique is introduced, and short simple vocal exercises are given to develop vocal control and aural awareness. Self-confidence and enjoyment is the focus throughout the term. This term ends with an "Audition Assessment" to learn how to audition for role. An assessor from the performance industry provides a written report.
Second Term: students learn a variety of material, and develop basic technique through demonstration and repetition. Exercises for rhythm are introduced. Self-confidence and fun remains the focus. This term ends with our Mid Year Showcase, and students record their vocals. These tracks are used to supplement live singing to eliminate the use of live microphones. If you'd like to know why, click here. Third Term: focuses on songs for the Annual Concert. Harmony and musical self-confidence are developed further. Students record their vocals and these tracks are used to supplement live singing to eliminate the use of live microphones. If you'd like to know why, click here. Fourth Term: combines techniques learned in previous terms, in solos, duos, and the development of harmonies. In week 7 of this term, the Annual Concert completes the cycle. The final weeks of term are used for fast learning of material to perform at the end of year Parent View Day. Here you will have the opportunity to see what students have learnt throughout the year, and have a conversation about what is next. |
