Mid year ‘Showcase’ performances |
- This is not an End of Year Concert, but a chance for Students to get ‘real on stage experience', therefore there are no costumes for this day, as students perform in neat dance wear and clothing appropriate for the acting piece.
- Students perform the Song and Dance piece they have completed during Term 2 using the skills they have learnt during the first half of the year, and the ‘play' students have been rehearsing during Term 2.
- In the Play each student has the same size roles, which have been especially written for our curriculum, with stories appropriate to the age group.
- The plays are usually performed in normal clothing you would have at home and no extra expense for costumes is necessary.
- The plays have interesting sets to help the young actors tell the story.
- The Song and Dance Showcase performance time is aprox 1 ½ hours.
- The Acting ‘Play' is aprox ½ hour ( depending on the piece)
- The performances are attended by a large number of parents and friends, as it's a great opportunity to see the results of what students have been learning in class.
- Our Mid Year Awards are also given at these performances.
- The cost to attend for non-performers is quite reasonable and it's a great family day out.
Annual Concert(highlights video) |
- The Mighty Good Talent School presents a major event each year, which showcases Singing and Dance students.
- It's performed at a major theatre location.
- The need to produce a well-costumed, high standard production with minimum extra expense is always a consideration – but not necessarily an easy one to achieve.
- Costumes for this occasion are co-ordinated by our wardrobe department and then sold to students at an average cost of $90.00 per costume.
- With very few exceptions there are no extra rehearsals required prior to the day of the concert with all the necessary preparations being undertaken as part of each class, during Term 3 and 4. However there is always daytime full dress rehearsals held in the venue prior to the performances.
- It's a great fun night of good quality entertainment and a fantastic conclusion for each student's year of hard work.
- Tickets are available at the start of Term 4 and you need to book early.
Filming(highlights video) |
- The stories we tell all relate to events with which most students are familiar.
- The scripts are written so the material is suitable for each age group and can be shot in accessible locations.
- There is rarely any special costume requirement as the films are usually contemporary stories, which use existing clothes.
- Assistance is appreciated for parents to help students learn lines, which can be a very important part of a family interaction.
- The production is recorded outside of class time and constitutes a lesson at special call times during the middle of Term 4.
- The ‘films' are professionally directed and edited and provide a memorable DVD at a very reasonable cost.
- The filming is also a great learning tool and can be used to great advantage in the development of students' skills.
